Introduction
The Dell Inspiron 3668 is a highly capable budget desktop powered by Intel's 7th Generation Kaby Lake architecture. While Apple has officially phased out native support for Kaby Lake graphics in recent macOS versions, we have successfully installed macOS Ventura 13.7.6 Build 22H625 on this machine using the reliable OpenCore r1.0.8 bootloader. This guide covers the hardware details, what works, and the known limitations of this setup.
System Specifications
Here is the detailed hardware configuration used for this successful Hackintosh build:

What is Working?
After fine-tuning the OpenCore configuration, EFI drivers, and kexts, the following features are fully operational:
- Graphics Acceleration (QE/CI): Intel HD 630 displays full graphics acceleration with smooth animations (patched successfully using OpenCore Legacy Patcher post-install).
- System Power Management: Native CPU power management is active, allowing the i7-7700 to scale frequencies properly.
- Audio: Output from both front and rear jacks is working correctly. HDMI and DisplayPort audio outputs are also functional.
- Display Outputs: Both HDMI and DisplayPort outputs work with native 1080p resolution on the Asus VX2481-mh monitor.
- Network: Realtek RTL8168 Gigabit Ethernet, Intel AC 8265 Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth are fully working.
- USB Ports: All USB ports are mapped and working at their respective USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 speeds.
- Power Actions: System shutdown and restart work perfectly without any hangs.
What is Not Working?
Despite the high stability of this build, there is one known limitation:
- Wake from Sleep: This is a common, documented issue for Intel HD 630 desktop configurations on Kaby Lake without a dedicated GPU. Waking the system from sleep results in a black screen. It is highly recommended to set the display and computer sleep settings to 'Never' in System Settings to avoid this issue.
